Minute to Win It

We do a lot of activities as a family, but this is definitely one of my favorites.  If you haven't seen the show Minute to Win it, you should check it out.  Basically players try to complete tasks with household objects in under a minute.  Playing at home is a lot of fun.

There are a lot of ideas on what to do at the Minute to Win it site here.  I was planning our games for a big group (about 20 people with kids and adults) so I came up with a way to still be competitive, let everyone participate, but not make things too crazy with so many people.

We split into 2 teams, splitting the kids up first, then the adults so the teams were fair.

Our first activity was for only 1 player from each team.  We didn't time this one - we just raced to see who finished first.  The winner got to pick out of 2 activities for their team to compete in next.  The other team had to do the remaining activity next.  This way everyone participates but it doesn't get too crazy with 20 people trying to do the same activity at once.

Complete instructions for my version (along with a supply list) can be found HERE.

There are a lot of activities on the site you can modify for kids to play.  Breakfast Scramble (a 16 piece cereal box puzzle shown above) could be modified for younger kids by just cutting fewer pieces.

"Nose Dive" was a great challenge for kids as well.  You move cotton balls from 1 bowl to another using only petroleum jelly on your nose.

I definitely recommend playing Minute to Win it at your next family gathering - it is a TON of fun!
